THESIS PROJECT: VR simulation of an Air Traffic Control tower
My Master’s thesis explored how Virtual Reality can make the complex world of air traffic control (ATC) accessible and engaging for non-experts. I designed and developed an immersive VR simulation that places users in the role of a Local Controller, guiding aircraft takeoffs and landings under real-time constraints. The project combined 3D modeling, narrative design, and interaction prototyping in Unreal Engine, and was validated through iterative user testing and academic research. It balances realism with abstraction to enhance understanding, empathy, and engagement in a high-stakes system typically hidden from view.
